小脚的中国女人——这个典型形象可能已经被大多数中国人淡忘，但其实她们还未走远。《赫芬顿邮报》通过一组黑白照片向读者呈现了她们的身姿。

文章开头写道：张云英（音译）有着完美的祖母的形象——一头白发，笑起来深刻的皱纹。但她的步伐会震惊到你——如何用一双孩童一般的小脚来掌握平衡。她并无选择：就像和她一起长大的大多数中国女孩一样，她的脚要被捆绑到不能走直线了。

英国摄影师法蕾尔（Jo Farrell）用近10年时间来纪录濒危的“传统文化”。（小编：这么说吧，各国传统文化里大多都有看上去很病态的东西……）每年，她都会造访张云英所在的小村庄，并为一些和她一样年届八九旬的裹小脚的女人拍摄肖像。法蕾尔希望，她可以纪录下所有还活着的小脚女人。

显然，不少读者被这组照片震惊到了，首先当然有很多人对这段历史进行抨击，和表达同情：

I can only guess at their awful pain. Following a stroke at 59, three toes on one of my feet curl under-were contracted- so that I have to walk on my toenails. The pain is the worst I ever felt.

It sure is strange that there are so few examples throughout history of men mutilating themselves (or being mutilated by their fathers) in order to be more attractive to women.

I'm usually opposed to blanket statements on any given topic but I think one is in order here. Woman of the world...Stop screwing your feet up by what ever means to attract a man! Lord! And get that equal pay for equal work too ladies. Just sayin.

How bout women dancing and working in high heels? Korean kpop girls do it all the time. Female KPOP dancers have no choice but to dance in high heels even if it hurts them. High heels are bad for you and some women choose to buy those $200 shoes.

The grammar in the title is incorrect. These women have their feet bound they are not foot binders. The last people who would bind little girls feet (foot binders) died decades ago.
